NATICMUSA — the National Traditional, Indigenous, and Contemporary Music of South Africa — is the country's foremost representative body for music practitioners spanning all genres, provinces, and communities.
Founded to address a critical gap in South Africa's cultural landscape, NATICMUSA was established as a sector cluster under the Department of Arts, Sport and Culture. We exist to ensure that the extraordinary diversity of South African music — from the ancient bow songs of the Khoisan to the vibrant rhythms of Afro Pop and Maskandi — is recognized, protected, and celebrated.
As South Africa's national music body, we advocate for musicians, facilitate access to funding and industry opportunities, support cultural preservation, and create platforms for artistic growth across all communities and all nine provinces.
